the union square collection

I’m branching out into new lettering styles! This is the first of a few more to come, and in keeping with the naming convention [of favorite streets and neighborhoods from past travels], I’ve dubbed this one Union Square. It’s where I stayed in San Francisco with my childhood girlfriends back in 2007 [#hasitbeenthatlong]. Yes, I sometimes think in hashtags. And that’s my cue to get off the computer.

birds of a feather photoshoot | featured on style me pretty florida

One of my goals this year was to have an invitation suite or calligraphy project published on a wedding or paper blog. Just 3 days into the new year I found out that this amazing inspiration shoot you’re about to see was scheduled to appear on Style Me Pretty Florida this morning. Needless to say, lots of happy dancing ensued and even the little guy did some flips in my belly.

So grateful that I was a part of such a talented and creative team of people. The gorgeous images are all by my good friend Diana Lupu and all of the incredible details were styled by the fabulous Kasey Davenport of Kasey D Weddings. And aren’t the models ridiculously good looking? A list of the other talented vendors that made this shoot possible is available here.

When Kasey told me her vision for the shoot, I was immediately on board and got to work on this feather and antler suite. The originals are designed with charcoal and pastels to exude the warmth and texture of crackling logs in a fireplace. The lettering on the envelope was painted with a custom-mixed turquoise gouache. It was sooo difficult choosing only a few photos to post, but you can see the full gallery here.

magnolias + the old south | bridal luncheon invitations

I’m pretty excited to show you guys a project I’ve been working on the last couple of weeks. My friend Jessica is throwing a bridal luncheon for her cousin Marie and when she asked me to design the invitations, I was beyond thrilled. The theme is magnolias/Old South with a modern twist and a color palette of green, brown, and cream. I know. Fabulous, right?

After the letterpress plates arrived in the mail last week, we had a printing/pizza party with our friend Blake, printer extraordinaire. Then this week, I whipped up some fancy addressing on the envelopes and fixed on these beautiful vintage stamps.

Marie, I would say I hope your luncheon, wedding, and all the other festivities are fabulous. But I have no doubt they will be. You Southern folk always know how to have a good time! ;] Congratulations!

My fascination with telegrams began early. I can still remember watching The Sound of Music, imagining I was Leisl, sneaking out to sing and dance in gazebos with Rolf whenever he delivered telegrams to the Von Trapp mansion.

In an age of texts and emails, with all its convenience and speed, we crave methods of communication that are more personal, and even from another time. When I found TelegramStop, I gasped that something so cool existed and immediately began making a list of telegram recipients. You can send one to anyone in the world for $5.85. It’s made to look like a classic telegram and even replaces periods with the word stop (punctuation cost more), just like the old days. You can send a memorable note to friends and family for the holidays, send a party invitation, an announcement, a save-the-date, or just say hello. And boys, if you want to impress your sweetheart, this is pretty much a home run.

Happy Tuesday!

harvest tablescape | style me pretty

Scouting the web for Thanksgiving tablescape ideas, I came across this – and still haven’t recovered. Featured on Style Me Pretty and captured by Jose Villa, Jessica Claire’s wedding is a true feast for the eyes. Hands down, it’s the most beautiful harvest themed wedding I’ve ever seen! Not only is the table decor amazing and inspiring for your own gathering, but the colors and details woven throughout the entire wedding are jaw-droppingly gorgeous. These flower girls? Oh. My. Goodness.
